Blacktax radio taxis began trading on 1st April 1976. We opened on that day with the promise to work to the values of Service, Civility and Reliability.

We are a Limited Company but we have a co-operative style of ownership and management different from our competitors in the market and this ensures that we offer the highest standard of service. This defines our character as a company and has led to Blacktax becoming the market leader for customer care and satisfaction, a title we are proud to hold.

We are commited to our five core values. They have helped Blacktax grow to be one of Blackpool’s largest Private Hire Company, now boasting a fleet size of over 75 vehicles including 4,6,8 seater vehicles, estate and adapted vehicles for wheelchairs and customers with specific needs. During this time Blacktax has carried over 20 million passengers on over 14 million journeys both locally and nationally, striving to ensure the customer receives the best possible service at the appropriate price. All of our vehicles and drivers are fully licensed and tested by Blackpool Borough Council.

As a company we focus our business to work in harmony with the local community. Blacktax is proud to offer a freephone service at Blackpool Zoo, and throughout the year we are supporting the zoo in various ways.

By combining our 10% discount card, regular value voucher packs, free entry prize draws all under the Blacktax banner of Driving Down Fares. We aim to provide our customers with a service that is not only fair in value it is reflective of the times we live in.

We value our place as a community member and are proud supporters of local community schemes like the Bispham Sea Cadet Corps, local junior football clubs, Brian House and Alexander House, Granada TV, ITV and Lancashire Fire and Rescue

At Blacktax we focus on being at the forefront of technological advancements in our business as this creates time management for our drivers and an efficient service for our customers. We consider our customer’s comfort and safety to be of paramount importance and have pioneered services such as Ringback and Text A Cab. These services allow our customers to remain inside a venue while we arrive, giving them advanced notice of our arrival, the vehicle registration, colour and manufacture model. Since 1998 we have worked with Coded Data, a market leader in software design to Taxi companies, that drives our system to accelerate our bookings and service delivery. This service we see as essential to providing our customers with our fundamental belief of delivering a Fast Friendly Service.

Blacktax is proud to be the first choice for some of Blackpool’s biggest and best hotels. Some of the
establishment we service are the Norbreck Castle, The Savoy and The Cliffs. We provide a service second to none to well over a 100 hotels as their first choice.

Blacktax are members of the National Private Hire Association, offering and benefiting from advice to and from them to the betterment of not only our business, but to every Taxi company. We have an excellent working relationship our Taxi companies as a result of being members of Radio Taxi Association. The RTA consists of all the major taxi companies in Blackpool and works with Blackpool Borough Council on all aspect of business in our trade wich improves our services to our valued customers.
